The location

A spacious, newly built family villa in the northern Netherlands, standing in its own garden. The open ground floor and the many windows keep the surroundings in view from almost every room.

The design

This newly constructed home epitomises Quiet Luxury: an understated design in which colours, shapes and materials are well balanced and together create an enjoyable atmosphere. The luxurious custom cabinetry and the high-quality furniture infuse the property with a sense of comfort and opulence, while the lighting and the beautiful artwork create a wonderful ambience and reflect the personalities of the residents.

The family home's open layout and its many windows provide an atmosphere of spaciousness and brightness on the ground floor. The characteristic bespoke room divider, which separates the living room from the kitchen, features a transparent fireplace and television facing the seating area; the kitchen-facing side includes an enormous refrigerator.

The custom-made kitchen is exceptional, with a meters-long concrete worktop that runs along the side wall and merges with the wooden stairs that lead to the floor above, and all the way to the garden.

The homeowners' private rooms also breathe Quiet Luxury. The materials that were used are rich and warm and create the desired level of comfort in the various spaces. From the comfort of the standalone bathtub in the bedroom, the homeowners can enjoy the beautiful view of the garden and surrounding area.

Colours and materials

The kitchen's weathered wood works beautifully together with the home's concrete floor. The applied steel, the concrete stairs, the dining table and the window frames further determine the interior's natural foundation — a foundation that is enhanced by beautiful works of art, stylish accessories and furniture. Jacco Maris' light fixtures are stunning and unique, while the Baxter armchair is a veritable work of art.

A peaceful spot in a wonderful family home.

In my own words

Quiet Luxury is often mistaken for beige. For me it is restraint: fewer materials, better ones, and letting the daylight do the work. The room divider in the middle of this house says it best. It divides the space without ever closing it.
